    Coastal Striped Bass Fishing Trips

May 20 we begin to concentrate our efforts on the salt water

Early-season striper fishing requires approximately an hour  of bait fishing catching mackerel and Pollock and Herring trips are scheduled to coincide with the tide to maximize fishing productivity. I.e. if the peak of the tide was at 6 o'clock we would depart the dark at 4 and baitfish for an hour and give ourselves time to get to the destination and have a couple of practice runs so when the peak time arrives everyone on board has been adequately orientated. Over the past few years the spring fishery has produced days with upwards of 20 fish per tide in the 26 to 34 inch range. Our best day last season was 32 fish in one tide.

As the season progresses and the water warms up the larger fish will settle in we  offer trips around the clock and will often fish further offshore targeting trophy fish in the 40 inch and above range with a number of fish caught is not as great but the  size of the fish are consistently larger.
